Union Established Hotline For 7/11 Workers

MEDIA ALERT: 31 AUGUST 2015


The shop assistants unions will today establish a hotline for 7/11 workers who believe they have been underpaid or denied penalty rates. SDA National Secretary, Gerard Dwyer, said workers would be able to log their details and wage details and receive advice about their rights.

“Depending on the number of workers who come forward, the SDA will be prepare to lodge a claim for back pay on behalf of 7/11 workers,” Mr Dwyer said.

“According to media revelations it appears the workers have been subject to a systematic pattern of exploitation.

“These workers need to be aware that just because they may not be Australian citizens, they have industrial rights under Australian law.”
