Testimonials

For us members the organisers are there to help us if we have problems to work through it with the management, then I know exactly what my rights are and that they are being protected

The SDA organisers are always there to help, If I have a question no matter how important or unimportant I think its is, I just call them and they help me...It's that simple!

I call the union for handling problems if I ever have any in my workplace, they always respond in a fast and timely manner to help resolve them!

With the upcoming EBA negotiations it's great to have someone pushing our company for better conditions in my workplace.

The Shop Distributive and Allied Employees’ Association (SDA) is a trade union representing workers in the retail, fast food and warehouse industries.

We fight for better wages and conditions and offer value for money membership.

The SDA is an independent not-for-profit organisation funded only by members, for members.

The SDA is not a government department, nor is it run by any Company.

The SDA is a registered organisation under the Commonwealth Fair Work Act 2009. It is governed by the rules of the Association and our audited accounts are published annually and sent to all members.

The Secretary and Assistant Secretary of the SDA are elected by members and assisted by a Committee of Management which is also elected by members.

The Union is affiliated to the Australian Council of Trade Unions, the Australian Labor Party, Unions WA and UNI Global Union.

The Association is made up of over 20,000 members in Western Australia.  Members have the peace of mind that comes with knowing the SDA can protect their rights at work.

The SDA offers help to its members at all levels, from the shop floor to the Fair Work Commission and the Federal Court.

What does the SDA do?

The most important thing that the SDA does for members is negotiate wage increases and improvements in conditions.

The SDA also provides members with many services and benefits - and all for less than the cost of a fast food meal each week.

Join the SDA. You don’t know when you might need us. We will be there for you one hundred per cent of the time.
