Sign our Petition: Tougher Penalties for Violent Customers
Go Back
As the COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated, retail workers are essential. Society simply can’t function without them turning up for work.
With that in mind, retail and fast food workers simply must be protected from customer abuse and violence. Other jurisdictions in Australia have already taken action and WA must be next.
The SDA will soon be formally calling on the WA State Parliament to impose higher maximum penalties for assaults on retail and fast-food workers.
You can add your support by signing our formal petition.
Please send a message that our society will not tolerate assaults on WA’s retail and fast-food workers.
Sadly, our member surveys have indicated that customer abuse and violence is on the rise.
However, the SDA has enjoyed success recently with increased penalties legislated for assaults on retail workers in South Australia and New South Wales, complimenting the existing protections for all workers in the Northern Territory.
Together we can take a stand against customer violence.
