Coles DC - Bargaining Update

 
Today, Wednesday the 17th of January, bargaining meetings commenced for a new WA Coles DC Agreement.
 
The SDA bargaining team, consisting of SDA Assistant Secretary Jo Clossick and your Coles DC Delegates met with representatives from the company and both parties today presented claims.
 
The SDA Log of Claims:
 
Wages:
 
1. Annual increases to wages and allowances of 8% every year for the life of the Agreement.
 
Leave:
 
2. Personal/carer’s leave to include shift loading.
3. Additional 2 days of personal leave.
4. 5 weeks Annual Leave
5. Parental leave to be increased to 26 weeks paid.
6. Clause 19.3 (c) to remove the limit of three occasions for the use of a Stat Dec as notification/evidence required for payment.
 
Breaks:
 
7. Rest break to be increased to 15 mins.
 
Other:
 
8. Amend 14.1(d) to include a second Saturday off per four-week cycle.
9. Removal of the 52-week cap on redundancy severance pay and such severance to be without the deduction of shift loadings and penalties.
10. Labour hire workers with six or more months’ service to be offered direct casual employment.
11. Improved consultation around roster changes -model consultation clause as a minimum.
12. Union recognition clause to reflect current practise.
13. Compassionate Leave – Clause 20.3 iii remove.
 
For discussion:
 
a. Ambiguity around breaks (third break) to be clarified.
b. Mental health first aiders to be available on each shift and include non-managerial representation.
c. A review of first-aider coverage in general to ensure coverage across all shifts.
d. Update all clauses to be in line with NES (Family Domestic Violence Leave)
e. Improved transparency and communication with employees around the operation of the engineered standards system.
f. The monitoring of safe systems of work for employees as they age.
