Masters Easter Saturday Update

Go Back
  • 24th March 2016

Unfortunately, Masters have chosen to interpret the Enterprise Agreement differently this year from previous years regarding the status of Easter Saturday in Western Australia.

Despite strident representations from the SDA seeking for them to change their position as of right now, the matter remains unresolved. The SDA remains committed to pursuing members’ entitlements and will continue to work towards that end.

However, given that we are unable to resolve this before the Easter period begins we have agreed to the following without prejudice proposal:

As an interim measure the Company has agreed to treat Easter Saturday as a ‘voluntary working day’. Employees may elect to be rostered or not rostered as the case may be. Employees who elect to work on Saturday 26 March 2016 will receive the applicable Saturday penalty rates.

Employees who are currently rostered to perform duties on Saturday 26 March 2016 may elect to take paid leave by contacting their line manager, the Customer Experience Manager or Store Manager. Paid leave will be approved in line with the Company’s leave policies and the Company will make every effort to accommodate all appropriate leave requests.

The Company has said that it expects Employees who do not have approved leave will be expected to work as rostered. However, if an employee has their request refused and they disagree with that decision should escalate the matter within the store. If this fails they should then contact HR team at [email protected] over the weekend.

In unity,

Peter O’Keeffe

SECRETARY
