ALP’s Mark McGowan supports penalty rates

Go Back
  • 18th August 2016

I congratulate Mark McGowan for making a formal submission to the Fair Work Commission, calling on the Commission to retain current penalty rates.  Mark’s submission demonstrates a genuine understanding of the importance of penalty rates and the very pressing need to maintain the incomes of lower paid workers in the current economic climate.  While it may be being a little optimistic to expect Colin Barnett to also stand up for penalty rates, it couldn’t hurt to ask him.  As such, if you would like to see Colin Barnett follow Mark’s lead, you could email him at [email protected] and ask that he too demonstrate his support for workers in the retail industry.

Mark’s submission can be found here: https://www.fwc.gov.au/documents/sites/awardsmodernfouryr/am2014305-sub-mcgowan-170816.pdf
