Testimonials

Being a member of the SDA is important because I'm not good at speaking up so I need assitance to help negotiate on my behalf.

For us members the organisers are there to help us if we have problems to work through it with the management, then I know exactly what my rights are and that they are being protected

When people join together and be part of the union we are helping each other have support and rules for work, I dont want to be the one standing alone!

I think the question should be this:  Why should somebody not join the SDA? That list would be short.

Urgent Notice: Woolworths Restructure

Go Back
  • 2nd August 2019

Woolworths Members,

If, following advice that your position was redundant, you were successful in your application for a new position, you will have been given a document to sign to indicate your acceptance of that position.

Firstly, it should be noted that this document is in the form of a Deed of Release (typically used in settlement of disputes) rather than an employment contract.  Secondly, the document contains some statements which, in the SDA’s view, are inconsistent with the circumstances and potentially misleading.

We have raised concerns about the document with the Company and they have undertaken to make a response.  In our view, until this response is received, employees should not sign the document.  By all means feel free to indicate that you wish to accept the position, but make it clear that you are awaiting advice on the contents of the document.

If you have any queries, please call the SDA on 1300 275 732.

Sincerely,
Peter O’Keeffe
SDA WA Secretary
